I respect every profession because if one was missing, the system would not work. From the humble farmer's long hours in the field growing food to the proud politician allowing the nation to work. Well, there are a few exceptions like the paparazzi. I wouldn't mind if they disappeared.

But do they not have also a function in our society? I don't like them too - but what about the millions of people loving the information from the glamour world? They do not want to miss that... Noplan

Millions of drug junkies would not like to miss their crack and heroin too...
And all the readers of the hitch hikers guide through galaxy perfectly know, what happens to a society that lacks of telephone disinfectors.

I imagine allready the headline. The entire illegal yellow press in [ state ] now is firmly in the hand of the two biggest mafia-families of the capital...

Politician is among the most respectable professions - if you want to be really good, you have to...

* develop or recognise good ideas
* decide right when a compromise is acceptable and when inacceptable
* get along with very different types of people, including power hungry other politicians, manipulating lobbyists, dissappointed voters and of course the overly critical journalists
* be convincing and able to explain complex things in a simple way
* never see the power as your natural right
* have the right touch when chosing your allies and staff
* be moral enough to avoid any scandals

I agree, i have great respect for honest, intelligent and liberal politicians, they have a very hard job to do, they're always getting hounded by reporters and the smallest family problem can be turned into hell by reporters trying to make a quick buck.
