new projects

project Desertec

To secure cheap and renewable energy sources we need to stop thinking national and get a more global perspective. Most parts of our wonderful nation haven't enougth sun hours per year to sustain them with solar energy, but the poor desert states in the south have. They lack the economic strength to build the needed infrastructure to supply us with solar power. That is why we must rent certain parts of their desert to build this infrastructure, so we can finaly have the cheap sustainable energy we need.

effects: decrease Commodity index, increase imports, increase enviroment, increase infrastructure, increase international reputation

project economic domination

This world is at a critical point. The nations of this planet already exploit it's ressources too much. We need to act now before there isn't enougth oil, coal, uranium and copper left to sustain our economy. This is why we need to buy the mining rigths for this precious ressources step by step so we can secure that we will still have them while the other nations have already run out of them.

effects: increase export, decrease import, decrease commodtiy index, greatly decrease international reputation

RE: new projects

I like project nr II, but project nr I would be a waste of money as a real physical investment, because like I stated in many of my posts, sun light has a very low energy flux density and you can't get it up, aside from that, the desert erosion would drastically affect the solar panels, which they breake down very quick anyway in temperate conditions, not to mention the maintenance cost of the panels, the infrastructure required, that would again not be feasable in a desert. Besides the fusion power project solves the problem of energy;
Why not make the deserts green? A project in which climate control is applied to make the deserts habitable. It could increase environment, increase land area, gross investment, tourism etc.

RE: new projects

The fusion projekt ist only one new type of energy source. Fusion reactors are more efficient the bigger they are, so they will be big investments. Even if you discovered the technology there won't be an invinite amount of Energy. Desertec is another Energysouce to gain.
Also this won't be a waste of money. The Energyloss from the MENA Region to middle Europe is about 10 to 15 %, while the solar energy per square meter is about 2 to 3 times the amount of northern Germany.
Also there wouldn't be a majority of photocoltaic panels. The power plants would be made of solarthermal plants, like the ones already used in the Mojave desert. The damaged mirrorarea per year through errosion is only about 0.4 % in the Mojave desert.

The real world example of this project only needs about 10 bn Euro in subsidies to secure an estimated 17 % of Europes energy needs in 2050.
The infrastructure costs are even less then the one for solar energy plants in europe, because the days in the sahara are almost equaly long and the useable region strenches so far in west and east. The energy imports could generate a nearly even voltage for 17 hours. This time period also fits the daytime of the highest demand in Europe, so every generated Joule can be used. The most common energy transfer is one with the highest power, so you don't have to oversize the infrastructure like in Germany.

EDIT: The second one was btw the plan of the german coal industry for the time period of World War I before Kaiser Willhelm II started the war. It would have secured the German domination over Europe peacefully.

Well british financier interests conspired the overthrow Bismark (because Europe started serious infrastructure projects, inspired by the transnational railway system and other is the USA and that threatened british maritime domination over trade) and start a conflict within Europe. Unfortunately the Kaiser was too dum to see that he was being played, by one of his relatives, George the 5th to be exact.
