Looking at the policies of Libya since the revolution some people might consider him a socialist.
It is true that Gaddafi's economic policies have done a great deal of good for Libya in terms of it's situation and in comparison to the previous regime and those of other nations (it's development of the country and oil money used for the people), but in fact this is necessary for the regime to maintain a base of support with it's delicate political situation between different tribes.

Suggesting that one should support Gaddafi over any revolution that fights for formal rights is the same as suggesting that one should fight for oppression in exchange for charity to the people which Gaddafi has done. Until Gaddafi holds formal elections any real socialist should oppose him, and then they should oppose him on the basis of rights. Lack thereof should demonstrate that talk of Gaddafi being the "brother of the revolution" and not the ruler of Libya is just talk, and that Gaddafi is not a socialist but a populist and is in fact opposed to socialism, as is any unelected regime which may or may not have "people's councils" but lacking in formal rights. Such a regime in fact harms socialism because it leans toward catering to whatever the people happen to desire to prop up the regime, even if such a desire is self-destructive.

Neither should one support U.S. intervention; this is trading U.S. "democracy" for Libyan democracy. How can one expect to spread democracy by giving money to non-democratic institutions such as the military?
I read ,but i m not shure ?
W T H you mean with "real socialism" ?

You know terms like " islamic socialism" or
"fighting against counterrevolution" ?

Do you think that people like
Mao , Lenin , Fidel Castro or Kim il Sung
never be socialists ?

The original meaning, that being democracy in the workplace or otherwise democratic participation in direction of the economy. Not that I give a damn as far as the U.S. in concerned. People in the U.S. should not have any rights.
