Budget Surplus

I am attempting to do something I havent seen anyone do in this game - which also makes me wonder if it is as smart as I think Tongue

I am trying to create a budget surplus so big that I will end up being able to fund all government spendings through a positive credit balance.

This should be possible within some weeks, my debt is right now at 1.9 trillions, and my budget surplus at 1.6 trillions.

I would appriciate some input from more experianced players on this plan, preferably from people who have attempted this.

RE: Budget Surplus

I suggest that you might want to take a look at this page before you do anything too drastic. Matrix changes a while ago might punish you for this attempt. However, a small budget surplus, approximately on order of your GDP, is usually not bad. Just remember to lower your taxes after you have a surplus.

I also thought about this target, vsrinath with statedenew is close. You can see the states with extreme state wealth in statistics.
States Helios and Altair are also very high.
Those with highest interest income are California, Narkotika, and Helios also to be seen in statistics..
But most of them have hight expenses, so they still have taxes. Would be interesting to combine high interest income with low expense budget.
Good luck.....

RE: Budget Surplus

Well so far I have experianced no visible negative effects (I think?), and my expenses are now 20% covered by interests.

The present issue is raising healthcare spendings, as my healthcare level is dangerously low.

Besides that a new issue springs to mind, I could as far as I can see potentially increase my interests from my surplus substantially, by increasing nominal interest, but would this bring any big risks to me? my nominal interests seem so low by now I cant see the hurt in raising it a little, but wanted to ask you guys first..

Thanks in advance.

Cool  RE: Budget Surplus

Hi there.. just a thought worth considering about interest rates.. at higher rates, there could be a 'crowding out' of the private investment within an economy... this could mean less investment in the private sector and hence less innovation within the economy ... overtime, your revenue from business could go down & also growth & unemployment could be adversely affected.. politically, pensioner vote could go up as most of them rely on savings for their survival.

Cutting tax on capital & lowering tax on income could improve incentives in favour of work & enterprise.... could consider increasing the excise / sales tax.

(Maretti, Just saw the link for your country ... 100% extremists and huge starvation... forget the money, save your people)

Hope that helps

RE: Budget Surplus

well... in the real world ... higher interest rates come along with higher savings ratio, which causes less consumption. In addition to that higher interests for assets also means that the capital investment loans become much more expensive, too.

So if your economy growth is strong enough to handle this it might be possible.

dunno if your economy gonna react like this in game.
