At  Change to Tick times?

With the worlds at war (really, some people are far too keen to send millions of their soldiers to an early grave around here! Tongue) I wonder if the timing of the computations should change.

Before the worlds were so prominent (and before the upgrade to a faster server) it was understandable to update when the vast majority of players would be in bed. But now, it can be a major inconvenience to many players who are forced to stay up until 3am CET or risk being outmanouvered by an insomniac or someone from a more fortunate time zone!

Personally, I need my sleep. I'm not sure what other people's thoughts are on this, but I would favour a tick change at midnight CET. Those players still active at that time could take the opportunity to role play or discuss events in the forums while they are eagerly waiting to see the results of the tick change if there is a conflict situation in the world.

Althought I don't need to sleep at all Cool I of course support this!

I think midnight is a good agreement. In a tick based game like AR, 'the tick' can be misused too easily by e.g. sending troops 5 minutes to the tick, so no one can react. This will not change of course, however, making the tick earlier will maybe give people a chance to react, since they will be still awake.

I think they should change the main tick to the mid day .

Well, the second tick of a two-tick state would be at midday this way. But a main crossover at midday would again be difficult for most people at work or at school.

Yes, having the tick in the late evening was always a big Plus for AR, although there are phases in life where you could have a whole bunch of ticks a day, such come and go. Wink

At all costs AR should remain a game which requires one minute per day at minimum, with an open end for players with currently more time.

At the moment there is a new tick at 3am CET, but offensive military actions are locked at 2am CET (as far as I recall). I agree it's not convenient to stay awake that long, though.

However, there is no best time for tick change and no best time for locking offensive actions since we address players all over the world and with different daily rhythms (working people vs. students vs. unemployed etc.). So I think this has to be solved by a more sophisticated method, I will talk to Malone about it.
