Implementing Laicism Reform in Iran Template

What will happen if I implement lacisim in an Iran-template nation? Will my popularity plummet, and will people try to kill me?

Not as such. Just be careful with task options such as legalizing abortion and purging the curricula of creationism. Wink If you play carefully, you'll be able to lower the template's high religious index. Then you'll be able to take more radical options without incurring major hits to popularity.

RE: Implementing Laicism Reform in Iran Template

Could I just ask, what are the general disadvantages of a state being highly religious in this game?

Is there any advantages to aiming for a theocracy? Has anybody ever done this?

I didn't see any downsides mechanics-wise, albeit I haven't gone the high religious route. I doubt you can achieve a high index without taking religious reactionary task options which hinder you in other areas. If you want to do an experiment, you can make an Iran template state, and ignore all task options pertaining to religion, and simply rely on higher social programs to promote hdi and lower social ills (such as crime rates).
