Interest Rates & Savings

Can someone explain the effects of what a high interest rate will do to an India template economy? What would happen if the savings rate was around 15-20%. Also, what would happen if the interest rate was negative?

There are steps between black (giving no help) and white (offering all you can). I'd offer some basic help first, then respond to questions. The interactive way seems to be more appealing than a suddenly deployed huge amount of text with tons of information. And you won't waste much energy since you can stop when needed.

I had a hard time to resist writing this in pink, but this is another story. Hehe

You know that the text color option was provided by the site and not by me. In any other business if an employee scolded a customer for using a feature that the business itself offered they would be fired on the spot. If you want to kick me off of here for saying so then do what you feel is best and both me and my girl will leave and delete our accounts. If you want us to stay then I ask that you keep your negativity to yourself. Have a nice day. Smile

Oops. Sorry - I had the same avatar at one point. It was just given to me at the start. I thought you might just have been a fan of Maggie like the rest of us! Wink I do check for clues on the user's CP page before making assumptions but there were none (apart from the avatar that really escaped my attention)...

Although I've managed to upset everyone in this thread with one innocuous sentence, I'll attempt to answer the unanswered part of your question:

There's a collar on interest rates in the simulation. This is set at 1% so negative interest rates are not possible to achieve. There used to be a much lower collar at -4%. Interest rates at this level tended to spur an increase in private consumption, fuelled by high personal debt rates. This also caused capital to drop, as people had no incentive to save their money.

Umm, I don't see a reason to throw you out, you are even contributing quite a bit to the community. However, those green postings are more difficult to read than normal ones - why do you insist in it?
