Microsoft taking over Nokia !!!

Hello every one just a minute ago I have watched a video on youtube in which it was anounsed that Microsoft and Nokia are entering in to a strategic alliance .

For me it means that Microsoft basicly took over one more company and will turn it in to one of their franchises .

This conserns me as I have had to deal with Microsoft and I know that they only care about the money and are not about castumer service or think about the human side of things .

Please tell me what you think . Is this good or bad and is this Microsoft just taking over one more market and cornering the third party companies ?

They are doing it in order to compete with Google. It's more keiretsus vs other keiretsus. I also dislike Microsoft. There's a real reason why so many viruses work on its operating system, while not as much as for other operating systems.

Why do they buy losers like Nokia and not good stuff like Samsung or Apple?

Way too much red tape to buy apple, besides that I don't think it even has the free equity to buy such a big competitor...

It's like "why doesn't coke buy pepsi?". Many reasons. The first of which are monopolization issues.

If Bill Gates's cutthroat business strategies couldn't do it in the 80's, what makes you think they can do it now? Hehe

RE: Microsoft taking over Nokia !!!

Nokia isn’t a “loser.” It has just fallen behind. It wasn’t long ago that Apple was a loser. Have you ever heard of worst to first investing? Nokia will, in all likelihood, be stronger than Samsung over the next decade. IBM used to be a loser while Dell was the winner. Now IBM is the winner and Dell has become the loser. No business is able to maintain solid growth forever. Today’s loser is tomorrow’s winner and vice versa. Plus, have we forgotten there’s a difference between a partnership and a merger? Microsoft will not be “owning and controlling” Nokia. They’re just working together. This happens all the time in the business world.

RE: Microsoft taking over Nokia !!!

You know if anything I think this is just a reaction from Microsoft to Apple's recent jump in product recognition as the higher-end more tech reliable brand. Microsoft has reached that problem IBM did face just not to long ago. It got so big that it forgot how to remain lean, efficient, and clean. Presentation is everything in this tech battle where I see Nokia provides the presentation Microsoft lacks, and Microsoft provides the funding power Nokia lacks.

I would play a smart move and see just how long this partnership will go, then wait a year or two to see the fruits of it. The stock prices will stay spiking and slowing, but once the dust settles we'll see where the real money comes.

In conclusion, this could either be more significant than any of us suspect or it could be completely worthless to either corporation.

On a side note... Richard what's your belief on taking a stock to stock part of your portfolio? I have 10% of my equity investments on stocks I personally see growing higher than on market averages within the next year. One of them is coincidentally APPL. Wink
