RE: My Nation

at a first glance your nation seems to be doing very well indeed...
the only thing i can't get my head around is your country's combination of unemployment, trade deficit and interest rate Kopfkratz

RE: My Nation

Your strong currency stymies your exports. It's also correlated with the effects of MRII. In every winter try to decrease the nominal interest by max and increase the money supply by max.

RE: My Nation

Well your nation goes very well. But as Titian and Helsworth mentioned, the interest rate is awfully high. That makes you currency very expensive and correlates with the trade deficit. So decreasing your interest rate might be helpful in terms of combating the trade deficit. On the other hand, one might wonder, if that is necessary. Your state goes very well in terms of economy, of happiness, in of unemployment. You even started to introduce a basic income. Theoretically you would be able to increase basic income to equal the living cost and in the same time decrease pensions and welfare to 0 (sadly one can not change so much so quickly and such a sudden change might also ruin your state). But my advice would be, to go slowly and see what happens. That means I would slowly decrease interest rate and increase money supply (but to have a money supply of more then 110% of the GDP hurts the economy more than it benefits from, at least that is my experience here in AR). At the same time you could also increase the basic income, while lowering the pensions and welfare... slowly... and then you should be fine, I guess. You could also start with a Cure for cancer after your Cure for Malaria is done. Your strong currency makes the cost for projects quite cheap, so the negative impact of withdrawing that money from the economy after the project is finished, is not that great...

@TyPin
He is running a USA template state. Bigger MS than GDP is not a problem Wink

RE: My Nation

I must admit, I have not so many experiences with the USA template. Mostly I have experience with GDR, Germany and Russia and there a too high money supply seemed damaging.

That realizing, I'll create a USA state to collect some USA experiences Wink

RE: My Nation

no, do not lower your interest rate at the moment! Nono
if the system is build upon the standard economic theories you'd get a lot of problems if you do so.
Seeing your low unemployment and your high rate of inflation, I'd say that your economy is allready operating below the NAIRU. Your economy is producing as much as it can so trying to push it even further won't do nothing more but to inflate prices.
Try to increase your interest rate until your unemployment and inflation stabilize a bit.

His high interest rate is because of Money Reform II. He doesn't suffers from inflation. MRII impacted his international rep, this also hit his exports. The only good thing about his high interest rate is that he's making bigger budget reserves. His low unemployment rate is because of how he handled his tasks, not because of interest rate, MS, or savings ratio. ^^

RE: My Nation

this doesn't change anything about the fact that there is not an infinite amount of labour available.
please tell me how you think the real economy can be expanded beyond the natural limits? Noplan

By decreasing the nominal interest and increasing MS - his exports will become more attractive, gross investment will increase (investment in capital goods and inventory). I had once a USA template state which stayed at the same unemployment rate for years straight i.e. 0,27% if I recall correctly, and my economy grew at a fairly decent pace. Low unemployment rate means bigger wages. I was talking about AR, not real life. Real life is far more complex, interacting and multivariate.
