Norwich - Factbook - Roman Intelligence Agency

[off-RP] This is the place to write an introduction to your state, to present facts and misinformation. Not a place for press releases or something like that. Please use liberally, but with caution. And leave me a PM after your reply, so that I can link it in this first post. I'll post a template in the second post, but you are not limited to that.

RE: Norwich - Factbook - Roman Intelligence Agency

Exempli Gratia / Template
[off rp] This template can be used to create similar looking entries in the fact book. You can of course adapt it to your needs or refuse to use it. I recommend using it, though, as this helps with keeping the suspense of disbelief. [rp]

How to use the template:
Text in [Brackets] is to be replaced with your information
Do not remove the tags, though, as this will format your text accordingly.

Republic of Roma

Republic of Roma

Political Information

Political System: Roman Style Republic

Head of State: Censora Theodora Flavia Sabbatia Iustiniana

Heads of Government: Consul Caius Caecilius Metellus
Consula Iulia Cornelia Scipia
Highest Court of Justice: Forum Justicium Superior, may challenge laws

State of Parliament: Two chambered parliamentary system of Roman Style: the House of Commons, Centuria, is elected by the populace, the Curia consists of patrician families and equites decided upon by virtues and the Censores.

Current government party: Civitates ("we all are citizen" - market radical and classical liberal party taking some middle position between the Optimates and the Populares.

other important political parties or movements:
Optimates (patrician dominated conservative party)
Populares ("progressive" party, dominated by the teachings of the ancient C. Iulius Caesar and the 20th Century ideologist Fredericus Noscus Lasalle)
Sociates (socialist, believed to be dominated by outside communists)

Human Rights: full human rights acceptance, slavery is forbidden (but consensual serfdom is a possibility for people that are not able to live without a pater/mater familias.

Individual Rights: Individualism is accepted fully by the government. There are laws regarding the non-discrimination based on gender, sex, sexual orientation, disability (physical) and ethnicity, as long as the citizenship is acquired. Roma has laws to give citizenship to foreigner, after placing themselves for at least 10 years under the tutolage of a Pater familias/ Mater familias, a highly regarded individual in Roma, and being accepted as worthy by the family and the Censors.

Other political information: The highest political forum is the Censor counsil with 100 Censors being chosen for live after the full "cursus honorum" (having held all relevant positions for at least one year). Every political position is voted for by both chambers, or lower parliaments, and is given out for 1 to 4 years, taking in account the position. Aedilii mostly are chosen only for 1 year, whereas the 10 Consuls (8 civil consuls, dominating government, provinces and commissions, 2 military consuls leading the military staffs) are chosen for 4 years each. The Cursus honorum requires having served at lower stations before getting into the higher ones, it also requires military service, political service and paying net-taxes [i.e.: paying more tax than you get back from the state].

Societal Information

Prevalent Culture: The predominant ethnic after the re-formation of the Roman Republic is still romanized germanic. Most citizens descend from any tribe of the Germanic people (ca. 40%). Under these, the most noticable are descendants from Saxons (35%), Francks (25%) and Teutons (20%). This has a large impact also on culture. While Roman culture is ubiquitious, to some extent the germanic culture has been incorporated into it. People are wearing tunics over trousers, or - if allowed to - togas with fur lining. Also, met (honey wine) and beer have become almost as favored as wines, and a certain reverence of oaks has been introduced into the culture.

Minority Cultures: (Ancient) Greek culture (20%), Gaul (15%), Britannic celtic culture (15%), Slavic culture (5%). The other 5% are from all over the world.

Prevalent Religion: Roma has a state religion incorporating all the old Roman gods, the old Norse gods (often revered in the same temples) and Mithras, the Sun, a form of militant Mithras cult.

Minority Religions: While most citizens faith lies with the Old Gods (60%), and Mithras has a followership of around 30%, there are forbidden religions sneaking around and scheming. Those include Maslumism, Malonism and the belief in a goddess named "Gaia".

Important cultural innovations: The single most cultural important building in all of Roma is the Curia, an on the surface very plain looking building with just 4 pillars on one side. Inside, the curia has been constantly improved, now featuring Teak seats for each senator (and modularly expandanble!), a round for the speaker and the great mural paintings from Leonardus Pollockus, who is famous for his "action paintings" but alos for the paintings in the Curia showing the mythological background of Roma as well as the most important leaders of the last incarnation of this republic.

Acceptance of Individualism: Except for some maslumic extremists and the fanatics of the manolean church, individualism is accepted by the population. As is liberalism and capitalism.

Economic Information

Important industry sectors: [Name up to three most important sectors. Use the trade commodities of your country for reference]

Most important companies: [Name very few important companies in those or other sectors]

other important economic information: [The place to describe other things, including political impact on economy, f.e.: planned economy.]
