Planned Economy mistakes

Hi, I've just enacted the Planned economy reform and the only thing I notice in the economy menu is my tax income going down, my economy getting worse and my deficit rising. The national property didn't change even a little bit.

I thought that in a planned economy system the state owned the means of production and that would rise the incomes (the benefits from every factory belong to the state) and the national property should benefit from a huge rise (the whole private industrial system becomes public).

But what I've found is that this game has been designed by people who has no idea of economy and are full of prejudices towards socialism. My suggests for the modifiers should be:
- The national property increases a lot (every private bussiness is public now)
- State income rises (same reason as the previous one)
- Capital taxes reduced to 0 since there's no capitalist class.
- Acquisition taxes rises a little (capitalist class turn into working class)
- Subsidies expenditure rises a lot since that can be considered the way the state invest in economy without making a whole new budget screen according to a socialist economy system. And this way the state can increase the investment here to reduce unemployement by creating new industries.

And after making those modifications you can make the economy go down if you hate communism, but at least it would be a little more realistic and nobody would notice. The way you are doing it now is just ridiculous.

RE: Planned Economy mistakes

Well if you chose the nationalization task options, public property isn't going to increase that much. In short you have to prepare for radical reforms such as planned economy and, or liberalism. Your state survived and is looking good, though your capital has decreased, as expected and you'll have to work a little to reduce taxes. Planned economy doesn't automatically mean 0% task for companies. The state must collect profits and then redistribute them. You have to understand that a radical reform like this takes time and a lot of bad effects happen. But keep working on it, cause your state looks good.
PS: Planned economy is the basis of marxist-leninist socialist society in order to transition toward communism, which has no state. Communism is utopic, just like anarchism or anarcho-capitalism.

RE: Planned Economy mistakes

I'll give it some time but I still think the modifiers aren't implemented in the best way. Hope I get a socialist system over time...

Also, regarding your PS, in communism there IS state (it's the one in charge of redistributing the wealth and providing basic social services such as healthcare and education) and it's not utopic since it has been the system of many countries throughout history whether it was dictatorship or democracy. The problem is that democratic attempts to achieve socialism has been overthown by the US government (and with the help of some european countries like France or the UK in some cases on the Middle East).

I contradict you. The only thing close to communism, has been the primitive commune. Socialist states have existed, however not communist ones, regardless if the party had the word "communist" in it. The transition from socialism to communism, requires the "withering away" of the state, to quote Engels, which didn't happen. Central planning does no make you automatically in sink with socialism either.

RE: Planned Economy mistakes

The marxist-leninist theory is a modification of Marx and Engels ideas and one they don't keep is the destruction of the state. That would be more like anarcho-communism or libertarian communism.

Anyway, it's not the place to debate about socialism so we better stop this. haha.

Hope I get the results of this reform soon because my deficit is quite high at the moment and I don't want to depend on the IMF loans like Greece...haha

Well it wasn't the greeks that were bailed out, it was the banks. The IMF would just tell you to cut cut cut! Wink
PS: Currently you are running a budget surplus. You have nothing to worry about.
