Reset Indices - World State

Hello, Yerushalayim suddenly crashed overnight after receiving funds from Hijaz. I think the game had an overflow somehow:

Edit: With the sheer amount of deaths, this appears to rival Mao's Great Leap Forward.

I fear this is no bug (not even a crash) and has only little to do with the payment.

The reason for your low popularity are the 20 million starving people. 27% of your population died in only three months.
Your people hate you for that, and with justification, because the problem is self-imposed. Around 70% of your population is unemployed, thus they need welfare for living. You just dropped the welfare to as low as 56% of what is the minimum living cost in your state. 27% of your population did not have enough money to even buy food. That's enough to hate you.

And now, imagine the head of state just got a payment, resulting in a surplus of 311 billion, while every fourth of your people starved to death because they had no money.

You, sir, just became one of the cruellest dictators of all time; fitting the role-play of your youngest switch to the communist world very well.

Perhaps that is correct :/

Even worse is that the game logic appears to kill off immigrants first; the metric went from 7% to 0%, well that and the elderly since pensioners have crashed to barely 688K people.

Status quo is an important factor in Ars Regendi. As a result, when the living conditions of the simulated citizens degrade, it tends to reflect in happiness. Naturally, this applies to an increasing number of deaths by starvation - as highlighted by Benedikt - and is heavily punished by the simulation. Even more so in a scenario with such exteme numbers.

I guess the immigrants come and go, so it is not exactly killing them, it's "revoking citizenship" or they just fled in terror.

Sad thing is my population was 72M pre-Rebellion, and dropped to 52M thereafter with 20M starved. I'd had the Great Wall built and migration was a dismal 0.01% :/

Therefore, looks like either nobody could escape or they all fought valiantly when storming the palace.

This is ... kind of ... correct. The "Great wall" project in its current implementation is pretty much comparable with the iron curtain of the cold war. The wall prevents citizens from migrating, but it does not stop immigration.

Personally, I never noticed that starvation has such an impact on the immigrant population. However, given the sheer number of people who starved to death (resulting in an overly pronounced effect), the tendency for immigrants to be at a disadvantage here makes sense to me. And since people were unable to leave the country, this was the logical result.
